Synopsis

Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated qemu-kvm-rhev packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 6.0 (Juno) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building
a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud running on commonly
available physical hardware.
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a full virtualization solution for Linux
on AMD64 and Intel 64 systems. The qemu-kvm-rhev package provides the user-space
component for running virtual machines using KVM in environments managed by Red
Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Due to an incorrect implementation of memory barriers, the QEMU emulator in
some cases terminated unexpectedly when installing an HTTP image or an ISO file.
This update adds memory barriers manually, which allows portable code to be used
properly. As a result, the described crash no longer occurs. (BZ#1241584)
Users of qemu-kvm-rhev are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
fix this bug. After installing this update, shut down all running virtual
machines. Once all virtual machines have shut down, start them again for this
update to take effect.
