Topic
Updated packages that resolve various issues are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 4.0 (Havana) for RHEL 6.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building
a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud running on commonly
available physical hardware. Services provided by these packages include:
- OpenStack Block Storage service ("cinder").
- OpenStack Compute service ("nova").
- OpenStack Dashboard ("horizon").
- OpenStack Image service ("glance").
- OpenStack Identity ("keystone").
- OpenStack Networking service ("neutron").
- OpenStack Object Storage service ("swift").
- OpenStack Orchestration service ("heat").
- OpenStack Telemetry service ("ceilometer").
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform also includes these supporting
technologies:
- Foreman OpenStack Manager, a utility for deploying enterprise-level OpenStack
clouds.
- Packstack, a utility for rapidly deploying proof of concept OpenStack clouds.
- Open vSwitch, an implementation of the OpenFlow protocol for remote per flow
control of network traffic.
For information on the scope and support implications of the Technology Preview
designation applied to some included components, please refer to:

This update applies fixes to several outstanding bugs.
Changes to the mongodb component:
- Previously, MongoDB's init script would fail when bind_ip was set to 0.0.0.0.
This would prevent the mongodb service from listening on all addresses,
resulting in the service being bound to 127.0.0.1. This issue has now been
fixed, and mongodb can now be bound to specific IP addresses or none (0.0.0.0).
(BZ#1112840)
Changes to the openstack-cinder component:
- This update fixes an issue with the NetApp NFS volume driver that would cause
volumes to become unevenly distributed across multiple NFS back ends when more
than one back end was configured for the driver. The method for determining the
NFS back end to use has been updated to choose the back end with the most free
space instead of the first, non-full back end found, resulting in a more even
distribution of Cinder volumes across NetApp NFS back ends. (BZ#1165801)
Changes to the openstack-nova component:
- Previously, security credentials were not transmitted between the Compute and
Image services. As a result, Image service images were insecurely downloaded
even if SSL was configured. With this update, the Compute service now passes the
SSL certificate and key to the Image service, and the transfer between the two
services proceeds over SSL. (BZ#1153565)
- This update resolves an issue that caused the number of instances on compute
nodes to become inconsistent with the number of instances in the database.
(BZ#1159719)
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant to
your system have been applied.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 4 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
