RHBA-2014:1736 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
xfsdump bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated xfsdump packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
The xfsdump packages provide several utilities for managing XFS file systems,
including xfsrestore and xfsdump.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Previously, the value of the nrh_t byte offset was set to 32 bits. As a
consequence, the xfsrestore command failed with an assertion message if it was
executed on a dumped XFS file system that contained millions of files. With this
update, the value of nrh_t has been changed to 64 bits. This allows xfsrestore
to handle a significantly larger amount of directory entries, and thus prevents
the described problem. (BZ#1149868)
Users of xfsdump are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix
this bug.
