Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Orchestration which resolve various issues are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0 (Icehouse)
for RHEL 6.
Description
Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for
building a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Orchestration service ("heat").
OpenStack Orchestration (heat) is a template-driven engine used to specify
and deploy configurations for Compute, Storage, and OpenStack Networking.
It can also be used to automate post-deployment actions, which in turn
allows automated provisioning of infrastructure, services, and
applications. Orchestration can also be integrated with Telemetry alarms to
implement auto-scaling for certain infrastructure resources.
This update addresses the following issues:
- The Qpid driver's v2 topology has been introduced to specifically address
the slow growth of orphaned direct exchanges over time. By default,
however, services still used the original v1 topology of the Qpid driver.
The v2 topology had to be explicitly configured via the
'qpid_topology_version = 2' parameter.
With this fix, the Orchestration service's distribution configuration
file (/usr/share/heat/heat-dist.conf) now contains the
'qpid_topology_version = 2' parameter. This effectively sets the Qpid
driver's v2 topology as the default.
In addition, the default value in the Qpid implementation has been changed
to 2 as well. (BZ#1127922)
- This openstack-heat package adds the OS::Nova::ServerGroup resource from
the Juno release to RHEL-OSP-5 (Icehouse). (BZ#1132546)
- The openstack-heat package did not specify the version of the
python-migrate package it actually required. As a result, if any old,
incompatible version of python-migrate was installed, installing
openstack-heat did not cause it to be updated to the required version.
With this update, the minimum version is specified explicitly and the users
can now run Orchestration database migrations after upgrading from RHOS 4
to RHEL-OSP 5 without needing to manually upgrade the python-migrate
package. (BZ#1139239)
