Topic
Updated Windows Guest Tools packages that fix several bugs and add various
enhancements are now available.
Description
The rhev-guest-tools-iso package contains tools and drivers. These tools and
drivers are required by supported Windows guest operating systems when installed
as guests on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
Changes to the Windows Guest Tools component:
- Previously, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 were not supported, and the
Windows Guest Tools setup on these unsupported operating systems returned an
error message. With this update, support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012
R2 have been added, and now the installation on these operating systems
functions normally. (BZ#1117213)
- A change in the structure of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization guest agent
configuration files caused Windows Guest Tools uninstallation failed to send
notifications. The logic was updated to use the new configuration file
structure, and uninstallations are logged in vdsm.log as normal. (BZ#1119783)
- Feature:
Support for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 in Windows Guest Tools.
Reason:
Required by the customers.
Result:
Support was added. (BZ#1120035)
- A change in the structure of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization guest agent
configuration files allowed users to have a system local .ini file but also
allowed the file to be overwritten by the default configuration file and caused
any customization by the user to be lost. The logic was modified to never remove
the system local .ini file, and to only create the file if one doesn't exist,
and the file can no longer be overwritten. (BZ#1119801)
