Topic
An updated ovirt-hosted-engine-setup package that fixes various bugs is now
available.
Description
The ovirt-hosted-engine-setup package provides a self-hosted engine tool for Red
Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager. A self-hosted engine is a virtualized
environment in which the Manager runs on a virtual machine on the hosts managed
by the Manager. The self-hosted engine currently only runs on Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 6.5 hosts.
To install the self-hosted engine, run:
# yum install ovirt-hosted-engine-setup
Refer to the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.3 Installation Guide for
further information.
Changes to the ovirt-hosted-engine-setup component:
- Previously, the high availability daemon was enabled by the rpm install and
not stopped upon termination of a hosted-engine deployment. This meant that if
the hosted engine was deployed, but was aborted or failed after having created
the engine virtual machine, the hosted engine could not be redeployed as it
conflicted with the virtual machine already started by the high availability
daemon. Now, the high availability daemon is enabled by hosted-engine
deployment, and the hosted engine checks for an existing virtual machine running
on the host. Redeployment of the hosted engine no longer fails due to the
presence of a virtual machine created during a previous deployment. (BZ#1066373)
- Previously, ca certificates were not generated for libvirt. This resulted in
failure to connect to the engine virtual machine using virsh or SPICE during the
hosted-engine deployment. Now, necessary certificates are generated before
libvirt is configured for VDSM and users can connect to the engine virtual
machine using virsh or SPICE. (BZ#1073446)
All Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager users should install this
update which includes this enhancement.
