Synopsis
rhevm-guest-agent bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated rhevm-guest-agent packages that fix several bugs are now available.
Description
The rhevm-guest-agent allows the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager to
receive internal guest events and retrieve information such as the IP address
and list of installed applications from the guest. Additionally the guest agent
allows the Manager to execute specific commands, such as shut down or reboot, on
guest virtual machines.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Previously the rhevm-guest-agent dependent on a specific kernel with a minimum
which prevented using the rhevm-guest-agent with the PAE versions of the kernel.
(BZ#1069223)
Changes to the ovirt-guest-agent component:
- Previously, rhevm-guest-agent in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 was not reported
in the appsList because the pattern it searched for was specific to Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 6. The pattern has been updated to search for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5 strings, and rhevm-guest-agent now appears in the appsList.
(BZ#1069221)
Users of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization guest agents are advised to
install this updated rhevm-guest-agent package in their virtual machines.
