RHBA-2013:1070 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
usbclerk-win: a bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated usbclerk-win package is now available.
Description
The usbclerk-win package provides a new service, USBClerk, that is able to
install and uninstall Windows USB drivers (specifically the WinUSB driver) in
guest virtual machines.
The SPICE client (mingw-virt-viewer) sends requests to install/uninstall the
driver for USB devices when users connect/disconnect USB devices to/from a guest
upon request.
Changes to the usb-clerk-win component:
- Previously, using 32 bit Internet Explorer on 64 bit machines led to the 32
bit version of USBClerk being installed, which would then later cause native
redirection to fail.
Now, USBClerk is installed and operates correctly according to whether or not a
machine is 32 or 64 bit. (BZ#973655)
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization users who need to share USB devices with guest
virtual machines from Windows client machines should install this package.
