Topic
An updated spacewalk-utils package that fixes several bugs and adds one
enhancement is now available for Red Hat Network Satellite 5.5.
Description
Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for provisioning, monitoring, and remote management
of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Prior to this update, attempting to run the spacewalk-clone-by-date command
with an invalid set of options failed, followed by a traceback. With this
update, a usage help message is displayed in such a scenario. (BZ#810090)
- The spacewalk-clone-by-date man page now provides more detailed information
about the spacewalk-clone-by-date utility. (BZ#860467)
- Previously, attempting to execute the spacewalk-clone-by-date command without
specifying the "--to-date" option failed, followed by a traceback. With this
update, if the "--to-date" option is not specified, the tool clones the original
package set. (BZ#866930)
- If no channel repodata was available for a channel the user tried to clone
with the spacewalk-clone-by-date utility, the cloning process did not complete
and failed with an error. Consequently, temporary directories were left on the
file system and a partially cloned channel in Satellite. With this update, a
check is performed to verify in advance whether repodata for a certain channel
is available. The cloning process fails with an error as expected, but no
temporary directories are left on the system, nor a partially cloned channel in
Satellite. (BZ#870794)
- Prior to this update, the spacewalk-clone-by-date utility did not handle
invalid configuration files correctly if channel labels or package names
contained whitespaces. As a consequence, a new directory was created and the
cloning operation failed. With this update, whitespaces are removed and the
cloning operation completes successfully in this scenario. (BZ#885782)
This update also adds the following enhancement:
- Prior to this update, it was not possible to intuitively clone only a child
channel to an already existing parent channel. This update adds the "--parent"
option to provide such functionality. (BZ#838122)
All users of Red Hat Network Satellite are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which fixes these bugs and adds this enhancement.
