Topic
Updated redhat-ds-admin packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Directory Server 8.
Description
The redhat-ds-admin packages contain the Red Hat Administration Server, which is
an HTTP agent that provides management features for Red Hat Directory Server, an
LDAPv3 compliant server. The console uses the administration server to certain
tasks like authentication.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Prior to this update, users could not authenticate to the Console or the Admin
Server if the directory server was configured to deny anonymous access. This
was due to the way the Admin Server authenticated users. The Admin Server first
attempted an anonymous search for the given user ID, even if this ID was a full
Distinguished Name (DN). If the search returned an error, the authentication
would be aborted. This update uses the DN if the ID lookup fails. Now, users can
log into the Console as expected. (BZ#627906)
All users ofredhat-ds-admin are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix this bug.
