Bug Fix Advisory man bug fix update

Advisory: RHBA-2012:0449-1
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2012-04-03
Last updated on: 2012-06-20
Affected Products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 6)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux HPC Node (v. 6)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 6)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation (v. 6)

Details

An updated man package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 6.

The man package provides the man, apropos, and whatis tools for finding
information and documentation about the Linux system.

This update fixes the following bugs:

* Previously, the Japanese version of the man(1) manual page contained a
duplicate line in the specification of the "-p pager" option. This update
removes the duplicate. (BZ#659646)

* Prior to this update, the makewhatis script, which creates the whatis database
of manual pages, ignored symbolic links between pages. With this update, the
makewhatis script includes symbolic links in the whatis database. (BZ#749290)

All users of man are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes
these bugs.
