Synopsis
sudo bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated sudo package that fixes a bug is now available.
Description
The sudo (super user do) utility allows system administrators to give certain
users the ability to run commands as root with logging.
This updated sudo package fixes the following bug:
- Previously, 'sudo' returned a 'cache error' whenever a mixed cased user name
or a mixed cased group name was fetched from an Active Directory via LDAP
(Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) or QAS (Quest Authentication Services).
With this update, the case of a user name or a group name is ignored and 'sudo'
no longer returns a 'cache error'. (BZ#632235)
All users of sudo are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which resolves
this issue.

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
