Topic
Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that address issues with the API
are now available.
Description
Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for the provisioning, remote management and
monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.
These updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages provide the following
improvements:
- New API calls introduced:
- Get detailed information about kickstartable trees
(kickstart.tree.getDetails) BZ#493176
- Deploy configuration of all systems in a config channel
(configchannel.deployAllSystems) BZ#518127
- Log custom pre and post scripts for a kickstart profile
(kickstart.profile.setLogging) BZ#543184
- Cobbler related APIs (kickstart.snippet.addCustom,
kickstart.snippet.deleteCustom, kickstart.snippet.modifyCustom,
kickstart.snippet.listDefault, kickstart.snippet.listCustom,
kickstart.snippet.listAll, kickstart.profile.getVariables,
kickstart.profile.setVariables, system.createSystemRecord,
system.getVariables, system.setVariables) BZ#562881
- Existing API calls fixed:
- Performance improvements in rhn.channel.software.addPackages BZ#506279
- Prefix check for org.create API call BZ#513716
- Fixed deletion of uploaded packages BZ#523146
- More system checks implemented for system.setChildChannels API call
BZ#549752
- Fixed server.channel.software.list_subscribed_systems API call failure
with non-entitled systems BZ#556956
- API calls system.removeEntitlements and system.addEntitlements manage
base entitlements (BZ#566434)
Users of Red Hat Network Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains
the desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
or, for RHEL 5:
yum update
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
After installing the needed packages you will need to run:
rhn-satellite restart
