Topic
Updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages that address several issues
using the Web User Interface are now available.
Description
Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for the provisioning, remote management and
monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool
with a Web User Interface (Web UI).
These updated Red Hat Network Satellite packages provide fixes for the
following bugs:
- selecting a large number of packages, such as several thousand, in the
Web UI resulted in receiving a 302 status code (Moved Temporarily).
(BZ#512844)
- removing one or more packages from thousands of systems using the System
Set Manager resulted in out-of-memory errors or timeouts. (BZ#525549)
- scheduling a package removal using the System Set Manager timed out when
thousands of systems were selected. (BZ#526823)
- when creating a kickstart profile, "@base" was not automatically
populated in the list of software packages. (BZ#536825)
- cloning a kickstart profile did not result in the retention of the source
profile's package profile. (BZ#537491)
- the profile.comparePackages() API call did not return the correct
results. (BZ#538213)
- applying hundreds of errata to a single system resulted in the process
timing out with a 500 status code (Internal Server Error). (BZ#538559)
- the system.listSystems() and system.listUserSystems() API calls were much
less performant after upgrading to RHN Satellite version 5.3.0. (BZ#542830)
- when selecting packages to add to a channel, clicking "Select All" took a
very long time and would eventually time out. (BZ#548208)
All Red Hat Network Satellite users are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains
the desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
or, for RHEL 5:
yum update
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
After installing the needed packages you will need to run:
rhn-satellite restart
