RHBA-2009:1547 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
kernel bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated kernel packages that resolve several issues are now available.
Description
The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of the Linux
operating system.
These updated kernel packages provide fixes for the following bugs:
- when a process attempted to read from a page that had first been accessed
by writing to part of it (via write(2)), the NFS client needed to flush the
modified portion of the page out to the server, and then read the entire
page back in. This flush caused performance issues. (BZ#521242)
- on an AMD64 or Intel 64 system with greater than 4GB of RAM, resuming
operation after a suspending to RAM occasionally caused a kernel panic.
This has been fixed with this update. (BZ#522737)
Note: the system must be rebooted for this update to take effect.
Users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve these
issues.
