Details

An updated autofs5 package that fixes various bugs is now available.

The autofs utility controls the operation of the automount daemon, which
automatically mounts, and then unmounts file systems after a period of
inactivity. File systems can include network file systems, CD-ROMs,
diskettes, and other media.

This updated autofs5 package includes fixes for the following bugs:

* the number of DNS lookups performed corresponded to the number of IP
addresses returned from a host name lookup for any single NFS server. NFS
servers which resolved to multiple IP addresses therefore increased the
number of DNS lookups dramatically, which caused excessive load on the
system. This update removes redundant DNS lookups for NFS servers.
(BZ#517281)

* symptoms such as CPU utilization reaching 100%, mount points failing to
expire, and mount points becoming unresponsive to user requests were
reported. These issues were caused by two instances in the autofs Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) library code where an internal variable was not
initialized correctly and an another internal variable was not being
appropriately cleared on an error condition.. This update resolves these
issues in the RPC library code so that these issues no longer appear.
(BZ#517282)

All users of autofs5 are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
