Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 4)
OVAL: N/A

Details

An updated file package that fixes several bugs is now available.

The file command is used to identify a particular file according to the
type of data contained in the file.

This updated file package provides fixes for the following bugs:

* when identifying a FLI file which was inside a .tar.gz tarball, the "-k"
option, which should "keep going" with file analysis, would stop at
identifying the FLI file. This updated version goes further and also
identifies the compressed file, as it should.

* the file command did not recognize some ppc64 ELF executable files
properly. This updated version is able to identify these files as
"application/x-executable".

* the file command misidentified a gzip file as a FLC file. This updated
version correctly identifies gzip files.

Users are advised to upgrade to this updated file package, which resolves
these issues.
