Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated redhat-rpm-config package that fixes various bugs is now
available.
Description
redhat-rpm-config is a package that provides essential RPM packaging macros
used in producing RPM packages.
This updated package addresses the following issues:
- the options for the "%kernel_module_package" macro to override the
version number ("-v" option) and release number ("-r" option) were not
implemented correctly. With this update, these options now correctly
override the version and release numbers of the package.
- the brp-java-repack-jars script was not handling spaces in file names.
Consequently, if a Java Archive (JAR) file contained file names with
spaces, the RPM would not build correctly, returning errors such as:
cp: cannot stat `./file': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `name': No such file or directory
With this update, the script now correctly identifies and handles spaces in
file names, which resolves this issue.
- previously, the brp-java-repack-jars script was allowing empty JAR files
to be included when building an RPM. With this update, this issue has been
resolved.
Users of redhat-rpm-config are advised to upgrade to this updated package,
which resolves these issues.
