Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated rsyslog packages that resolve several issues are now available.
Description
rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded system logging utility (syslogd)
which supports MySQL, syslog/tcp, RFC 3195, permitted sender lists,
filtering on any message part, and fine-grain output format control. It is
quite compatible to stock sysklogd, and can be used as a drop-in
replacement. Its advanced features make it suitable for enterprise-class,
encryption-protected syslog relay chains while at the same time being very
easy for the novice user to set up.
These updated packages upgrade rsyslog to the more recent upstream version
2.0.6, which provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the
previous packaged version, including:
- an integer conversion error has been fixed.
- the file and fwd output module could become unresponsive.
- the strerror_r() function incorrectly handled invalid strings.
- resuming suspended actions now works as expected.
- a situation in which errno could be changed during mark processing has
been fixed.
- the EscapeCopntrolCharactersOnReceive environment variable is now
properly initialized.
- situations in which data was not properly initialized could have led to
segmentation faults.
- the FROMHOST property has been added to locally-generated messages.
- the calculation of QHOUR and HHOUR has been fixed.
- an issue with regular expressions inside the property replacer has been
resolved.
- IPv6 addresses for forwarding have been added.
- the manual pages have been clarified and several typos have been fixed.
All users of rsyslog are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which resolve these issues.
