Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated acpid package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
acpid is a daemon that dispatches ACPI (Advanced Configuration Power
Interface) events to user-space programs.
This updated acpid package includes fixes for the following bugs:
- the acpid daemon leaked file descriptors whenever a connected client was
disconnected, or the acpid configuration file was broken. In this updated
package, acpid no longer leaks file descriptors.
- the init script for the acpid daemon would sometimes exit with incorrect
or invalid return codes, thus causing the 'status' command to return an
incorrect value. In addition, the acpid init script would return status
code 0 even when acpid was incorrectly run. This has been fixed so that the
init script is compliant with Linux Standard Base (LSB) guidelines, which
resolves these issues.
All users of acpid are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
