Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An enhanced pm-utils package that fixes various bugs and provides an
enhancement is now available.
Description
The pm-utils package contains utilities and scripts useful for power
management.
This updated pm-utils package includes fixes for the following bugs:
- suspending or hibernating the machine caused certain scripts (in
/etc/pm/hooks) to incorrectly run twice, which in some cases could have led
to undesirable behaviors. In this updated package, the "hooks" scripts are
only run once upon the issuance of a hibernate or suspend command, thus
resolving the problem.
- the /usr/lib/pm-utils directory was not owned by pm-utils. In this
updated package, this directory is owned by the correct user, resolving the
problem.
In addition, this updated pm-utils package provides an enhancement in the
way of a new configuration file, /etc/sysconfig/pm-action, which allows
users to permanently configure system-wide options to the suspend command,
such as quirks needed by specific system hardware, and which is more
convenient than supplying these options the command line.
All users of pm-utils are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues and provides this enhancement.
