Details

An updated cpio package that fixes various bugs is now available.

GNU cpio copies files into or out of a cpio or Tar archive.

This updated package fixes the following bugs:

* using cpio to copy to a remote archive, for example, running "cpio" with
the "--rsh" option, failed with an error such as the following:

host: Connection refused
cpio: host:[destination]: Illegal seek

In this updated package, copying to a remote archive no longer fails.

* when using certain tape drives, reading an archive that spanned
multiple tapes failed at the end of the first tape, when reading the
table of contents, with the following error:

/bin/cpio: read error: Input/output error

In this updated package, cpio no longer fails when reading archives that
span multiple tapes.

Users of cpio are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
