Details

An updated xinetd package that addresses various bugs is now available.

Xinetd is a secure replacement for inetd, the Internet services daemon.
Xinetd provides access control for all services based on the address of the
remote host and/or on time of access and can prevent denial-of-access
attacks. Each service has its own specific configuration file for Xinetd;
the files are located in the /etc/xinetd.d directory.

This updated xinetd package includes fixes for the following bugs:

* the xinetd daemon would only stop half of all service processes when a
service was disabled and xinetd was instructed to re-read the configuration
files. This has been fixed so that xinetd correctly stops all processes.

* the xinetd daemon no longer crashes when a service hits its log file size
limit.

* the xinetd.log man page was in the wrong man section, and has been moved
to the correct one (the "man 5 xinetd.log" now works).

* the default /etc/xinetd.conf configuration file listed incorrect default
values for the 'cps' option. The values have been updated in the
configuration file to reflect the actual default values.

Users are advised to upgrade to this updated xinetd package, which resolves
these issues.
