Details

An enhanced sos package that fixes various bugs and provides an enhancement
is now available.

SOS is a set of tools that gathers information about a system's hardware
and current configuration. The information can then be used for diagnostic
purposes and debugging. SOS is commonly used to help support technicians
and developers. SOS also has a pluggable architecture that allows the
delivery of an SOS plug-in with any package, one which can then gather
information about that package.

This updated sos package includes fixes for the following bugs:

* the sosreport utility in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 did not feature
support for creating a "tarball" (i.e., a gzipped tar file) of the data
gathered by the lvmdump script which comes installed with the lvm2 package.
This updated sos package adds support for gathering lvmdump data.

* the sosreport utility did not collect configuration information from the
/etc/elilo.conf configuration file. In this updated package, sosreport now
collects the information contained in /etc/elilo.conf for its report.

In addition, this updated sos package provides sos plugin support for the
IBM S/390 architecture on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, allowing sosreport to
be run on this architecture.

All users of sos are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues and provides this enhancement.
