Details

Updated xorg-x11 packages that fix several bugs and add enhancements are
now available.

The xorg-x11 packages contain X.Org, an open source implementation of the X
Window System. It provides the basic low-level functionality that
full-fledged graphical user interfaces are designed upon.

These updated packages fix the following bugs:

* when using low resolutions and the "vesa" driver, starting or restarting
X caused the previous session's video buffer to be displayed. This may have
made it possible for a user to momentarily see a previous user's session.

* restarting IBM® WebSphere® may have killed Xvfb. As well, killing IBM
WebSphere may have resulted in Xvfb causing a segmentation fault. In these
updated packages, the MAXFORMATS limit is checked when creating GCs, which
resolves this issue.

* the "xgi" driver was not built on 64-bit systems. On these systems, X
failed to start during firstboot. In these updated packages, the "xgi"
driver is correctly built on 64-bit systems.

* several problems occurred when using Matrox G200SE ("mga" driver)
graphics chipsets, including the wrong video RAM being detected, artifacts
being left on the screen after moving windows, and not all resolutions and
depths being available. In these update packages, the "mga" driver works as
expected, and all resolutions and depths are available.

* systems using an onboard ASPEED AST200 graphics controller experienced a
garbled display during installation. In these updated packages, support for
ASPEED AST200 has been added.

* on systems using Intel® GM965 chipsets, garbled output caused the GUI to
be unusable. As well, X may have failed to start on systems using these
chipsets.

As well, these updated packages add the following enhancements:

* support for Volari™ Z7.

* absolute mouse support for the "evdev" driver.

Users of xorg-x11 are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues and add these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
