Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated sos package that fixes various bugs and adds an enhancement is
now available.
Description
SOS is a set of tools that gather information about a system's hardware and
current configuration. This information can then be used for diagnostic
purposes and debugging.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- a bug in the "hardware" plug-in caused the "[[:alpha:]]" regular
expression to only filter "a", "l", "p", "h", and ":" characters, instead
of the entire alphabet.
- the "filesys" plug-in did not capture all ext3 file system information.
In this updated package, the output of the "dumpe2fs" command is included.
- if a RAID was not present, sosreport failed to generate the output of the
"fdisk -l" command. In this updated package, the output from the "fdisk -l"
command is generated, even if a RAID is not present.
As well, an "emc" plug-in has been added to support gathering data from EMC
storage systems, such as the EMC CLARiiON and EMC Symmetrix systems.
Users of sos are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which resolves
these issues and adds this enhancement.
