RHBA-2008:0475 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
dmraid bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated dmraid packages that fix several bugs are now available.
Description
DMRAID supports RAID device discovery, RAID set activation, and displays
properties for ATARAID on Linux 2.4 or 2.6 using Device-Mapper.
These updated packages fix the following bugs:
- on some Intel controller hardware, removing a drive from a RAID may have
caused a kernel panic during reboot.
- a program failure occurred when attempting to erase metadata (dmraid -r
- E), when only one RAID device was present. Errors such as the following
may have occurred:
ERROR: opening "sdb_isw.dat"
ERROR: opening "sdb_isw.size"
When prompted to confirm removal, a "Bus error" error occurred.
- libdevmapper requires UUIDs for mapped devices; however, in the previous
dmraid packages, libdmraid did not generate them. In these updated
packages, UUIDs are generated. As well, use the UUID prefix, "DMRAID-", to
identify them as DMRAID devices.
- a segmentation fault, which occurred when attempting to active a
non-existent RAID set, has been resolved.
Users of dmraid are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.
