Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated gdm packages that fix several bugs are now available.
Description
GDM (the GNOME Display Manager) is a highly configurable reimplementation
of XDM, the X Display Manager. GDM allows you to log into your system with
the X Window System running and supports running several different X
sessions on your local machine at the same time.
This updated gdm package includes fixes for the following bugs:
- occasional spurious "Authentication Failed" messages which were displayed
when removing smart cards have been removed.
- smart cards would sometimes not be recognized by GDM after restarting the
X server with the ctrl-alt-backspace key sequence.
- translations for console messages that are not supported by the console
have been removed.
- the duplicated username displayed at the end of the timed login prompt
has been removed.
- the utmp entries which track currently logged-in users are now written to
and updated by GDM.
- unnecessary account checks that were causing audit entries have been removed.
- the Chinese translation of "Last Language" contained an extra, incorrect
character sequence, which has been removed.
- a crash that occurred after logging out of a remote KDE session has been
fixed.
- the incorrect Malayalam translation in the Password text has been corrected.
All users of gdm are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
