Topic
An updated system-config-kdump package that fixes several bugs is now
available.
Description
system-config-kdump is a graphical tool for configuring kernel crash
dumping via kdump and kexec.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- a bug caused problems with starting and stopping the kdump service. For
example, after enabling or disabling the kdump service by using the
"chkconfig" command, the kdump service was not started or stopped after
changing runlevels. In this updated package, the kdump service is
correctly started and stopped.
- after certain configuration changes, users were prompted to restart the
system, and not the kdump service. A system reboot is only required if the
amount of memory to be reserved is changed. In this updated package, users
are only prompted for a system reboot when it is necessary.
- the default action "halt" was listed as a valid option in
"/etc/kdump.conf"; however, the "halt" option did not appear in the
"Default Action" list in system-config-kdump. In this updated package, the
"halt" option has been added to the "Default Action" list.
- system-config-kdump did not produce an error when it encountered an
unknown configuration option, for example, "link_delay", in the
"/etc/kdump.conf" file. In this updated package, system-config-kdump
preserves unknown options, so as not to damage manual configuration in
"/etc/kdump.conf".
- not all warning messages appeared in the user's selected language. In
this updated package, messages are displayed in the correct language.
- due to missing dependencies for a required font file,
"system-config-kdump" failed to start on systems that were not configured
with a graphical desktop environment. An error such as "No fonts found;
this probably means that the fontconfig library is not correctly
configured." occurred. In this updated package, the required fonts are
specified as a requirement for installation, which resolves this issue.
Users of system-config-kdump are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which resolves these issues.
