Topic
An updated system-config-network package that fixes several bugs and adds
an enhancement is now available.
Description
The system-config-network package contains the Network Configuration tool,
a graphical tool which supports Ethernet, Wireless, IPsec, Token Ring,
ADSL, ISDN, and PPP configuration.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- in the previous system-config-network package, the "Hosts" section
displayed an IPv6 "::1" entry for localhost. This entry is required;
however, it was possible to modify and delete it using
system-config-network. In this updated package, the "::1" entry is no
longer visible in system-config-network, which resolves this issue.
- system-config-network was unable to handle "ifcfg-[device]-range[x]"
files correctly. Using system-config-network to modify and save a
"ifcfg-[device]-range[x]" file, resulted in the file breaking. These files
are no longer handled by system-config-network.
- in the previous system-config-network package, to configure a
Maximum-Receive-Unit (MRU) value, scripts in the
"/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/" directory had to be edited manually. In
this updated package, support for graphically configuring the MRU has been
added.
- when a network interface was configured with a static IP address, but no
boot protocol was specified, system-config-network set the boot protocol
to DHCP. In this updated package, if a static IP address is configured,
system-config-network no longer changes the boot protocol to DHCP.
- in system-config-network, when editing network interface settings in the
"Hardware" section, if text was added to the "DMA0" and "DMA1" fields,
pressing the "OK" button resulted in a traceback error. In this updated
package, only integer values are accepted in the "DMA0" and "DMA1" fields.
As well, this updated package adds the following enhancement:
- IBM are depreciating the CTC and NETIUCV drivers. This updated package
removes the options for CTC and IUCV configuration. To replace these
drivers, support for configuring the IBM System z network adapters has
been added.
Users of system-config-network are advised to upgrade to this updated
package, which resolves these issues and adds this enhancement.
