RHBA-2008:0329 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
kudzu bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated kudzu packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
Kudzu is a hardware probing tool that runs while the system boots to
determine what hardware has been added or removed from the system.
These updated packages fix the following bugs:
- if quotes were added to the "HWADDR" or "SUBCHANNELS" options in
"/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*" files, Kudzu failed to parse them
correctly. Because of this, configuration files were not regenerated. In
these updated packages, Kudzu correctly parses "ifcfg-*" files that contain
quotes, which resolves this issue.
- in the previous kudzu packages, when Kudzu detected a new or replaced
network card, Kudzu modified the configuration for the previous network
card, and reconfigured the new card to use DHCP. In these updated packages,
if the device does not have "HWADDR" specified, Kudzu no longer modifies
configurations when device changes occur.
Users of kudzu are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.
