Details

Updated traceroute packages that correctly handle spaces in command line
arguments are now available.

The traceroute utility displays the route used by IP packets on their way
to a specified network (or Internet) host. Traceroute displays the IP
number and host name (if possible) of the machines along the route taken by
the packets.

This update fixes a bug with the incorrect handling of spaces in command
line arguments. Newer versions of traceroute were requiring at least one
space between an argument and its value, which could cause problems for
scripts relying on the argument-passing behavior of older versions of
traceroute. These packages reenable the previous command line-handling of
traceroute.

All users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
this issue.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
