Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated diskdumputils packages that fix various issues are now
available.
Description
The diskdump utilities set up the kernel to save memory images to the
specified partition.
These updated packages apply the following fixes:
- Allows the use of the diskdump facility when the /usr partition is
not mounted locally.
- Fixes a diskdumpmsg error indicating: "OverflowError: requested number
of bytes is more than a Python string can hold" on systems with extremely
large amounts of RAM.
- Updated the README file to better describe the semantics of the
"service diskdump restart" operation.
- Prevent a perceived "stall" when formatting a diskdump partition
after a panic if fsck is run on an ext3 partition.
- Fix to prevent savecore from not using reserved space on /var/crash
partition, leading to false "no space for dump image" errors.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
