RHBA-2007:0621 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
autofs bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated autofs packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
The autofs utility controls the operation of the automount daemons. The
automount daemons automatically mount and unmount file systems after a
period of inactivity. File systems can include network file systems,
CD-ROMs, diskettes, and other media.
This errata resolves a number of issues including:
- "winbind" as an nsswitch source caused mounts to fail.
- adding hard space to a mount point directory could cause an incorrect
filesystem to be mounted.
- the hosts map would not function behind an NAT interface.
- expire alarm handling caused locking issues.
- mount locations with "localhost" as the server did not work.
- automount could segfault when a mount was triggered by a user with a
group that doesn't exist.
- a mount map that had an entry which was continued to a white-space-only
blank line caused a syntax error.
- included maps failed to show mount point directories when the browse
option was given.
- wildcard map entries were handled incorrectly when multiple nsswitch
sources were used.
- the handling of global mount options was not backwards compatible with
autofs version 4.
- the handling of the wildcard map entry with LDAP was corrected.
- added missing support for the "multi" map type.
- macro handling failed to recognize "." as a valid character in names and
values.
- added support for "ldaps" as map type.
Users should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve these issues.
