Bug Fix Advisory libXp bug fix update

Advisory: RHBA-2007:0574-2
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2007-10-30
Last updated on: 2007-11-07
Affected Products: RHEL Desktop Workstation (v. 5 client)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 server)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 5 client)

Details

An updated libXp package that fixes a bug is now available.

libXp is an X11 client library for XPRINT protocol compatibility. It has
been deprecated since Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, this library was provided by a package named
'xorg-x11-deprecated-libs'. The libXp package claimed to obsolete
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs, but did not also claim to provide the same
functionality. As a result, third-party RPMs that depended on
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs would not install or build.

Users should upgrade to this updated package, which resolves this issue.

Packages depending on libXp should be fixed, as this library may be removed
from a future release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
