Bug Fix Advisory pidgin (previously known as gaim) bug fix update

Advisory: RHBA-2007:0483-3
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2007-06-27
Last updated on: 2007-06-27
Affected Products: RHEL Desktop Workstation (v. 5 client)
RHEL Optional Productivity Applications (v. 5 server)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (v. 5 client)

Details

An updated pidgin package that fixes many bugs, adds features and
implements a required name change (from gaim to pidgin) is now available.

Pidgin is a multi-protocol Internet Messaging client.

The Instant Messaging Freedom Corporation has discontinued support for the
Gaim client and released the software under the Pidgin name due to a legal
settlement.

This update fixes numerous bugs over the previous gaim package by shipping
the upstream version (2.0.2).

As well, this update fixes additional bugs and adds support for the Lotus
Sametime Connect and Apple Bonjour protocol.

Users of Gaim or pidgin should upgrade to this updated package.
