RHBA-2007:0177 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
ftp bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated ftp packages that fix a bug are now available.
Description
The ftp package provides the standard UNIX command-line FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) client. FTP is a widely used protocol for transferring files
over the Internet and for archiving files.
When the ftp client ran on a multihomed host it could use different source IP
addresses for control and data connections, which did not work with some
FTP servers.
Users of ftp should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve this
issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
