RHBA-2006:0607 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
pvm bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated pvm packages are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
These updates correct a packaging error which would cause application of
packages from the previous erratum to fail.
Description
PVM3 (Parallel Virtual Machine) is a library and daemon that allows
distributed processing environments to be constructed on heterogeneous
machines and architectures.
The previous update to this package renamed the LINUXI386 subdirectory,
which exists below the subdirectories of /usr/share/pvm3, to LINUX and
attempted to provide a symbolic link from the old directory name to the new
one in order to preserve compatibility. This caused installation errors on
systems which contained the previous version of the package, where this
symbolic link had previously been a directory.
Users of pvm should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve this
issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
