RHBA-2006:0449 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
gdb bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated gdb packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
GDB, the GNU debugger, allows debugging of programs written in C, C++,
and other languages by executing them in a controlled fashion and then
printing their data.
These updated packages address the following issues:
- GDB could not debug core files created on different machines because of
differences in prelink base addresses.
- The gcore command could not create core files larger than 2GB on some
architectures.
- GDB could not open core files larger than 2GB on some architectures.
- The gstack command might not work properly if PATH was not set.
- A latent problem in debug register handling, which might be exposed by a
possibly-upcoming ia32el update (in multi-threaded debugging scenarios),
was discovered.
All users of gdb should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
