RHBA-2006:0447 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
initscripts bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated initscripts packages that fix various bugs are now available.
Description
The initscripts package contains the basic system scripts used to boot
your Red Hat system, change runlevels, and shut the system down cleanly.
Initscripts also contains the scripts that activate and deactivate most
network interfaces.
Bugs fixed include:
- Using nss_ldap with /usr on a separate file system could prevent correct
system shutdown.
- Comments and empty lines in route-* files were not processed correctly.
Enhancements include:
- Support for diskdump to swap was added.
- Documentation for the HOTPLUG configuration variable was added.
Users are advised to upgrade to these updated initscripts packages, which
resolve these issues. To support diskdump to swap, it is also necessary
to upgrade the kernel and diskdumputils packages.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
