Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated gnupg packages are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.
Description
GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard) is a GNU utility for encrypting data and creating
digital signatures. The keyring files that GnuPG uses to store keys are
themselves normally stored in the user's ~/.gnupg directory.
If a user attempted to generate a new public/private key pair and the
~/.gnupg directory did not exist before they issued the gnupg command, the
key generation process failed. This happened when gnupg attempted to store
the newly-generated keys in the user's key ring. This update adds a fix
which attempts to create the user's ~/.gnupg directory if gnupg's attempt to
obtain a file lock on the user's keyring files fails, resolving this issue.
Users of gnupg should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve this
issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
