RHBA-2006:0285 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
chkconfig bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated chkconfig packages are available that fix a bug whereby services
could be accidentally enabled.
Description
Chkconfig is a basic system utility. It updates and queries runlevel
information for system services. Chkconfig manipulates the numerous
symbolic links in /etc/rc.d, to relieve system administrators of some of
the drudgery of manually editing the symbolic links.
Previously, when configuring a service with chkconfig, any dependent LSB
services were reset to their default enabled or disabled state regardless
of the LSB service's current state.
Users of chkconfig with LSB services should upgrade to these updated
packages, which resolve this issue.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
