RHBA-2006:0032 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
shadow-utils bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated shadow-utils packages are now available.
Description
The shadow-utils package includes the necessary programs for converting
UNIX password files to the shadow password format, as well as programs for
managing user and group accounts.
Previously, the useradd command did not allow a "." in usernames. With this
update, such usernames are allowed.
There is a new '-a' flag to usermod. This flag can only be used in
conjunction with the -G option. It causes usermod to append the user to the
current supplementary group list.
Previously, the command 'usermod -p' did not change the password last
changed field in the shadow file. It has been fixed with this update.
All users of shadow-utils should upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.
