RHBA-2006:0017 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated chkconfig package available
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated chkconfig packages are available that fix various bugs in the LSB
init script support.
Description
Chkconfig is a basic system utility. It updates and queries runlevel
information for system services. Chkconfig manipulates the numerous
symbolic links in /etc/rc.d, to relieve system administrators of some
of the drudgery of manually editing the symbolic links.
Various bugs existed in the LSB init script support in chkconfig; properly
formed scripts would be either installed incorrectly, or, starting with
RHEL 3 Update 5, installed in a different manner than they had been previously.
These errors have been corrected, and it is recommended that all users
upgrade to the fixed packages.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
