Details

An updated rhr2 package is available that fixes various bugs, adds new
versions of the NETWORK, STORAGE, CORE, and MEMORY tests, simplifies the
server portion of the NETWORK test, and introduces a new 'hwtest' run script.

The Red Hat Hardware Test suite (rhr2) is a set of tests used to help
determine whether a hardware platform can be supprted by Red Hat.

This updated package includes the following changes:

- Package is no longer noarch (now includes some binary parts)
- RHR2 now uses external open-source test programs (ltp, dt, lmbench)
- New NETWORK2 test: uses lmbench and NFS, no apache and no ssh
- New MEMORY2 test: uses almost no disk space, runs much faster
- New STORAGE2 test: uses dt, does read/write and raw i/o testing
- New CORE2 test: uses ltp, no kernel SRPM needed, tests system clock
- New 'hwtest' command simplifies testing
- New 'hwtest-server' service simplifies NETWORK test
- CDROM test no longer requires RHEL .iso
- CDROM: fix handling of DVD-RW, use SAO recording mode if necessary
- VIDEO: fix test on RHEL3
- INFO: fix rhr2 RPM / module checks
- Minor logging fixes, more useful error messages

All rhr2 users should upgrade to this updated package, which includes all
of the above bugfixes and features.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filenames]

where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.

Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
