RHBA-2005:661 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
glibc bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated glibc packages that address several bugs are now available.
Description
The GNU libc packages (known as glibc) contain the standard C libraries
used by applications.
This erratum provides the following bug fixes for the GNU C Library:
- Fixes several sunrpc xdr bugs on 64-bit architectures
- dcgettext etc. are now thread safe
- Fix for pthread_{,_attr_}{g,s}etschedparam
- In order to make performing heap exploits more difficult, malloc's
unlink macro will not write anything if the heap's doubly linked
list is corrupt
- When the standard 600..1023 port range is full, bindresvport now tries
to use other unprivileged ports as well
- Provides hesiod.conf classes keyword support
- Changes to sys/quota.h now match current kernel quota implementation
- gethostid/sethostid changed back to zero-extension
All users of glibc should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
