Details

An updated binutils package that fixes several bugs and adds support for
AS_NEEDED in linker scripts is now available.

Binutils is a collection of utilities used for the creation of executable code.

This updated package addresses the following issues:

-- A '-z relro' linker support bug
-- Handling of .note.GNU-stack on PowerPC for 64-bit binaries and libraries
-- Stripping objects that have empty sections right before .dynamic section
-- Buffer overflows in readelf program

In addition, linker scripts can now use the AS_NEEDED (...) directive.

All users of binutils should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
