Advisory: RHBA-2005:230-05
Type: Bug Fix Advisory
Severity: N/A
Issued on: 2005-05-19
Last updated on: 2005-05-19
Affected Products: Red Hat Desktop (v. 3)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (v. 3)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES (v. 3)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 3)

Details

An updated control-center package that fixes various bugs is now available.

GNOME (the GNU Network Object Model Environment) is an attractive and
easy-to-use graphical desktop environment. The control-center package
provides the GNOME Control Center utilities, which allows setup and
configuration of a system's GNOME environment (such as the desktop
background and theme, the screensaver, the window manager, system sounds,
and mouse behavior). If GNOME is installed, control-center is required.

This updated package addresses the following issues:

-- The network-proxy capplet did not set the older gnome keys, which a few
applications use. This patch applies both sets of keys.

-- The gnome-font-properties utility did not run on AMD64 machines.

All users of control-center should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat

up2date

For information on how to install packages manually, refer to the
following Web page for the System Administration or Customization
guide specific to your system:

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/

Additionally, users will have to bring up the "Network Proxy" dialog and
reset their keys for the settings to take place.
