Synopsis
hotplug bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated hotplug package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
The term "hotplugging" refers to the dynamic reconfiguration performed
after a device has been attached to a running system. This package
contains the application hotplug that is called by the kernel when various
devices are added; hotplug then loads the required modules for that device.
The following issues have been addressed:
- - A bug was fixed in the handling of network devices; hotplug now
correctly handles certain commented-out configuration directives and
certain addressless devices.
- - A bug was fixed in the handling of certain devices that need the
SCSI generic module.
All users of hotplug are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
