RHBA-2004:511 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated initscripts package
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated initscripts package that fixes a variety of bugs is now available.
Description
The initscripts package contains the basic system scripts used to boot a
Red Hat system, change runlevels, and shut the system down cleanly. The
initscripts package also contains the scripts that activate and deactivate
most network interfaces.
This updated package addresses the following issues:
- Allows ETHTOOL_OPTS to be used in conjunction with bonding
- Allows daemons to create core dumps, if explicitly configured
- Fixes ipcalc for 64-bit architectures
- Handles range aliases properly
- Supports non-ethernet network adapters better
- Fixes the usage of checkpid in the presence of multiple processes
- Uses the correct keyboard tool in 'unconfigured' mode
All users of initscripts should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
